Mr. Charles (Charlie) William Baker
September 3, 1959 - August 13, 2020
Charles (Charlie) William Baker passed peacefully on August 13, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judge Emily Baker Lassiter, his father, James P.Baker, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his brother William (Billy) Baker. He leaves his children, Sara Elizabeth and Ross Lawler Baker and the mother of his children Amy Wright Baker, all of Pascagoula, to cherish his memory. He leaves his brother, Captain Robert T. Baker(Alice), and sisters Carryl Baker Watts, and Linda Frame(Richard). He leaves his nephews and nieces, Seth, Troy, and Andrew Baker, Justin Simpson, Emily and Allison Watts and Shannon Dawson. He leaves a host of friends who appreciated his love for life and wonderful sense of humor. He attended and graduated from St. Stanislaus School in Bay St. Louis and fondly remembered those school days and the brothers at reunions and visits. Charlie worked for Colle Towing and continued for Signet Maritime as a procurement officer. He loved his work, the water, and his co-workers. Charlie was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Pascagoula. He was a member of the Vestry and participant in many church activities as his children grew in their faith. More than anything else in his life, his pride and joy were his children. The two of them were his favorite topic. He never missed a chance to tell anyone how proud he was of their accomplishments. His love and joy of Sara and Ross is a legacy that will remain with them always. To know Charlie Baker was to love him. He loved life, the people in it, and was especially kind to those less fortunate. Every person who encountered him was left smiling, with a funny joke on their mind and remembering his boyish chuckle. We are all blessed and grateful to have encountered him on life’s journey. His family wishes to thank Dr. Teresa Williamson, Dr. Clinton Hull, Dr. Randy Roth and the wonderful nurses at Singing River Hospital for their compassionate care of Charlie. A special thanks to Fr. Tom Fanning during this time. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Our Daily Bread, Backpack Buddies, or the Food Pantry at St. John’s so that many may be fed in Charlie’s honor.
