Mr. Jason M. Hopkins
October 19, 1983 - March 3, 2021
Jason M. Hopkins from Ocean Springs passed away from this life at his home in Westerville, Ohio at the young age of 37. He moved to Ohio in 2012 where he studied business and marketing at Franklin University where he graduated in 2017. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Molly Hildebrand, where they enjoyed life with their two dogs Louie and Charlie. After graduating he held various management positions with Katzinger’s Deli before accepting a position with Columbus Symphony. Before moving to Ohio, Jason grew up in Ocean Springs where he attended Ocean Springs High School where he graduated in 2002. Jason enjoyed playing sports such as baseball, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed visiting the Gulf Coast connecting with family and old friends along with visiting the beach and soaking up some sun. Jason loved to tell a story about the time when he and his cousin started a fire in the shed, it got so big, and they were relieved when they got caught, they knew they were in over their heads. It was Jason’s favorite childhood story to tell around friends and family. He would tell this story every time he started reminiscing on the old days. Jason had a way of looking back and laughing at the lessons he learned and making us laugh too. He cared deeply about his friends and family and would have wanted us to remember all those times of mischief, drama, and laughter. With the deepest sadness, he leaves behind his loving wife, Molly Hopkins; his mother and step-father, Mary Ann and Wendell Scarborough; his grandmother, Betty Lou Boyles Modlin; and his brother, Jesse Guy. He will be forever missed by his Ohio Family, Robert (Sr), Donna, and Robert (Jr) VanCourt, as well as his cousin Bethany Janusz and her husband Stephen Janusz; his mother-and father-in-law, Jane and Cloyd Hildebrand; and his brother-and sister-in-law Jason and Katie Waugh. Family that will mourn the loss of Jason includes his uncle and aunt Randy and Marika Modlin, and their children Maranda Poen and Joey Modlin, as well as his nieces and nephew who he loved dearly. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 1:00PM-2:00PM at First Baptist Church Vancleave, a memorial service will follow at 2:00PM in the sanctuary with Rev. Brent Parker officiating.
