Mrs. Lillie Belle Gentry

April 13, 1930 - May 31, 2022

Heaven sure got a lot sweeter today when Our beautiful Mother/Granny, Lillie Belle Gentry, went to her eternal home. We were so blessed to have had her for 92 wonderful years. She was the kindest soul and never met a stranger. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She loved her family, children and grandchildren more than life and she made sure each and everyone knew it. She was born April 13,1930 in La Fayette, AL to Nelson Herman and Opal May South. She lived in Bayou Cumbest for the majority of her life before relocating to Helena, MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Helena and loved her church family dearly. She served her country with pride and dedication win the United States Army during the Korean War. Ms. Lillie was preceded in death by her Grandparents – Joel and Lillie Belle Fly; Parents - Nelson and Opal South; Brother – Herman South; Sister and brother- in -law - Ruby and Alfred Corbel; Sister – Mildred Pellman. Granddaughters – Miranda Sailors and Aubreigh Seaman. Grandson – Christopher Seaman. She is survived by her devoted companion, Jimmy Hester; Her children: Dennis (Pat) Gentry of Boonville, MS; Lawanda (Wain) Rogers of Hurley, MS; Kenny (Pam) Gentry of Hurley, MS; David (Renee) Gentry of Moss Point, MS; Herman (Tammy) Gentry of Moss Point, MS; Teresa (John) Sailors of Pascagoula, MS. Bonus daughters Amanda (Paul) Hester and Mindy Hester. 12 grandchildren: Tracy Seaman of Hurley, MS, David Stokes of Hurley, MS, Kenny (Geniva) Gentry Jr. of Agricola, MS, Tyler Gentry of Hurley, MS, Nicole (Ryan) Gentry of Hurley, MS, Jacob (Katherine) Gentry of Wiggins, MS, Zachary Gentry of Hurley, MS, Courtney (Travis) Hubbard of Lucedale, MS, Steven Gentry of Moss Point, MS, Suzanne Sailors of Ocean Springs, MS, Colten (Heather) Lander of Semmes, AL, KaLee “Kellie” Sailors of Bayou La Batre, AL. Bonus grandchildren Isiah and Penelope. 15 great grandchildren: April (Sam) Thompson, Josie (Powell ’Bo”) Weed, Terry “Bit” (Samantha) Seaman, Logan Stokes, Courtney (Ryan) McCall, Austin Stokes, Weston Gentry, Nathaniel Gentry, Flora Gentry, Jasper Gentry, Havyn Hubbard, Lillie Grace Lander, Scarlett Lander, Gavin Butler, BlakeLeigh Saksa. 4 great great grandchildren: Kysen and Konner Stone, Addyson Loveless, Autumn Craig. Brother Johnny (Sarah) South and sisters Dotty Tanner and Lillian Trimm; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the PCU and Hospice of Light nurses at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS for the great care they provided in her last days. Visitation will be Thursday June 2,2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main Street Moss Point, Mississippi 39563. The funeral service will be Friday June 3, 2022 beginning at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Parmer officiating. Burial will follow in Machpelah cemetery in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
