    Mary Martin Smith

    March 19, 1929 - December 6, 2021

    Departing this life on December 6, 2021, Mary Martin Smith, age 92, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She was born in Moss Point, Mississippi to the late Oscar H. Martin and Nina W. Martin. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and homemaker. She lived a quiet Christian life. She graduated from Moss Point High School in 1947. She married the love of her life Howard in 1948. Mrs. Smith was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Howard W. Smith, her son, Gary H. Smith, her grandson, Gary H. Smith, Jr., her great-great-grandson, Preston D. Craig, and most recently, her great-grandson, Kyle D. Craig; siblings, Winifred Gonzalez, Cecila Duhe, Oscar H. Martin, Jr., and nephew, Richard (Dickie) Martin. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Paula Ellis of San Antonio, TX, Debbie (Ken) Steiner, of Pascagoula, MS; Six grandchildren, Anthony Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, Julie Collins, Susanne (Dallas) Cuevas, Melissa (Bubba) Saxton, and Jason Smith. 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler Craver, Morgan Craig (Calazan) Navas, Amber Craig, Gavin Craig, Trey Saxton, Tristan Saxton, Gracie Saxton, Jenna Cuevas, Annsley Cuevas, and Brooks Cuevas; five great-great-grandchildren, Zalan Navas, Layton Navas, Autumn Craig, Brantley Craig, Reed Craver, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS., the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wendell Stork officiating. Burial will be at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point. Pallbearers will be Gavin Craig, Calazan Navas, Anthony Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, Dallas Cuevas, and Ken Steiner. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Lighthouse Memory Care and Southern Care Hospice.
