Mr. Russell Henry McMahan

January 23, 1944 - March 21, 2022

Russell Henry McMahan, 78 years old, passed away on March 21st, 2022. He was preceded in death by his sister Anna Lou McMahan, his brother Kendall McMahan, his parents Nilon and Izilia McMahan, grandson Matthew Parker, and his brother Hayes McMahan. Russell is survived by his wife Janice McMahan, siblings Jean Easom (Wilburt), Vonda Knight (Thomas), Charles “Red” McMahan (Marie), Mickey “Shorty” McMahan (Karen), Lisa Joyner (Dennis), and all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Russell retired from Singing River Hospital System in 2005. He was married to the love of his life, Janice, for 39 years. Together they raised five children: Rusty McMahan (Brandi), Misti Knight (Joey), Brandy Parker (Sam), Tammie Tigner (Bryan), and Bridget Rogers. He was “Pop” to his grandchildren Cherish Burnette, SJ Parker, Luke Parker, Savannah Coe, Jacob Coe, Chad, Madison, Kendall McMahan, Carlyle Rogers, Chelsea Rogers, Connor Copeland, Michael Knight, Gavin Knight, Gabriel Knight, Parker Tigner, Emily Kate Tigner, and Knox Tigner He also leaves behind his great grandchildren Grayson Burnett, Lawson Burnett, and Reece Burnett. Throughout his life he enjoyed helping others in all walks of life. He enjoyed fishing and fixing all things broken. He was loved by everyone that knew him. His spirit and laugh was contagious and will never be forgotten. Russell was a wonderful husband, father, friend and co-worker. He was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and loved his church family. Russell never met a stranger and people always felt loved in his presence. The visitation will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church 3003 Belair Street Pascagoula, MS 39567 on Thursday, March 24th, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am from the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens in Moss Point, MS. The family of Russell thanks the nurses and doctors at Singing River Hospital for taking good care of him during his last days.
