    Sharon Kay Coulter

    October 2, 1962 - January 12, 2021

Through God’s grace and as promised to all of His children, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021,Sharon (Jerkins) Coulter, loving wife and mother of two, went to be with the Lord at the age of 58. Sharon was born on October 2, 1962 to Thomas Edward and Viola Ann Jerkins. On May 12,1984, she married the love of her life, Jerry Coulter. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Jonathan and Dillon, who were the center of her life. She was extremely proud of each of their accomplishments and milestones. She got her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1991, and was a lifelong educator – both in and out of the classroom. Sharon served as a teacher for the Moss Point School District for roughly ten years before opting to become a stay-at-home mom, so she could spend time with her boys. She took on many roles supporting her sons in school, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. In 2006, she continued her passion for teaching by returning to the classroom with the Pascagoula-Gautier School District. During which she touched the lives and hearts of many children, teachers, and parents. As an educator of almost 30 years, she could often be found advocating for literacy and instruction. Sharon had a passion for both education and family. She retired in January 2020 to focus on spending time with family and living life to the fullest. Outside of her profession, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and serving as an ambassador for Metastatic Breast Cancer research. Sharon was a devoted member of Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ann Jerkins, and her brother, James Jerkins. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 36 years Jerry Coulter; children, Jonathan Coulter, Dillon Coulter (Brittany); siblings, Gwen Toncrey, Charles Jerkins, Betty Cummings, and Sheila Minchew (James); other relatives, friends, and loved ones. Services for Sharon will be held at Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 22, 2021. The service will also be live streamed on Facebook via Sharon’s account. Due to the limited seating capacity of the venue in light of the pandemic, the family requests that only family and close friends attend the service in person. The family hopes that everyone else will join in the live stream. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Metavivor in Sharon’s honor.
